GRA Under Construction!

GRA Under Construction!

Grand River Academy is undertaking many exciting projects this summer to enhance our campus and the experience of our students. Since early June, local companies and contractors have been busy at work preparing for the 2015-2016 academic year. Projects include new construction, as well as renovation of existing spaces.

The lower level of Shepard Hall, the oldest building on campus, will now be utilized as the Center for Productive Growth, a dedicated space for individual and group therapy, as well as an interactive and recreational therapy component. Construction of this space includes two counseling offices, a shop space for hand tool woodworking, a new bathroom, and a lounge area for group therapy.

The Gates Library is undergoing a significant renovation. New mobile shelving for books and the addition of a smart board, new laptops, new furniture, new carpet, freshly painted walls, a sound system, and updated lighting reflects the changes in how research is now conducted by students on campus and the assistance provided. This rejuvenated space will provide an opportunity for interactive learning and collaboration amongst groups of students in their academic endeavors.

The weight room and fitness area is also receiving a much needed update. This includes a modernized look complete with all new weight and cardio equipment. Shepard Hall will have updated bathrooms on all floors. North Hall and West Hall will also have a newly renovated bathroom in each as well, courtesy of the generosity of the Class of 2015 families.

These campus updates reflect our student-centered atmosphere and the emphasis placed on developing the total young man - academically, emotionally, and socially. These projects were determined by an earlier survey that showed areas of priorities for our students and families. We focused on these areas to ensure that students have the best environment in which to thrive and grow. I am definitely looking forward to seeing the excitement on student's faces when they return to campus this fall.
